The year 5/6 class are a very busy crew. We have so much to do and learn about this term.
Persuasive advertisements and news reports have been the focus of our units this term. We have evaluated and analysed different advertisement campaigns to be able to create our own advertisement for a holiday destination. We have also been able to differentiate between objective and subjective language that interviewers and interviewees use, as well as explain how they use them to sway us to take their point of view.

Throughout our maths activities we have be exploring patterns, angles and fractions, along with carrying out investigations on volume and data. We will see who can create the pyramid with the greatest volume from the one piece of A3 paper and find out if people choose their breakfast cereal because they are nutritious or not.
In HASS we are learning about the three levels of government and how it has been developed since Federation. We have looked at the roles and responsibilities of the government at each level. It has been interesting to see which level of government is responsible for different parts of our lives. We are also exploring how the rights of different groups within the nation, like women, indigenous, children and migrants have changed over time.
In Science we are exploring the world of matter. We have experimented with the three states of matter to discover their properties: Solids, Liquids and Gasses. Did you know that air actually has mass? We are creating our own experiment to examine the process of evaporation.

Throughout our Art lessons we are exploring types dances from some Asian countries as well as our First Nation's people. We will choreograph and perform a dance to communicate ideas about Australian and/or Asian cultures and landscapes.
Mrs Mac is very busy teaching us sewing skills that will help us out in Design and Technology. We are hoping to be able to use a blanket stich. Miss Kinsey takes us for Health and P.E. and Mis Struss takes us for Music.
