Term three is off to a flying start and it has been wonderful to have all students back together again. This term the kindy kids have been wishing upon stars. Our students created stained glass window stars and made a wish to go with them. Over the term we will look at each of these wishes and work with students on creating them (We are unsure of how the unicorn will go!!!!!).
The kindy class has been fortunate enough to get some wonderful new resources for our classroom. These new resources will help us to improve our gross and fine motor skills and to build and create. We look forward to what the term has to bring.
Prep to Year 2
Students have started the term with great enthusiasm and I look forward to seeing this continue. I am very proud to say that the K-2 class currently hold the Attendance trophy for Term 2. I hope that we can continue this effort as attending and participating in school will help your child develop important skills and knowledge to help them learn. One of the most important things your child can do to reach the goal of success is to attend school every day. I look forward to speaking with parents next week during the parent/teacher interviews.
What we are learning
In English this term, we are exploring Procedural Texts (A procedure is a sequence of steps in a particular order; the purpose is to tell how to make or do something and it can be written or oral). Students will create and present a procedure in front of their peers.
Students will explore familiar phenomena, including different types of weather, and consider the effects of weather on people's daily lives, in particular on clothing, shelter and activities. Students will consider changes in the sky and landscape, in particular day and night, and the impact on themselves and other living things. Students will investigate Earth's resources and the importance of conserving them for the future of all living things.
In this unit students will investigate the inquiry questions:
For Prep: What makes a place special? How can we look after the places we live in?
For Year 1: What are the different features of places? How can we care for places?
For Year 2: How are people connected to their place and other places? What factors affect my connection to places?
