EVERY DAY COUNTS!
School Success starts with ATTENDANCE.
It is important that all students attend school from the very first day of the school year, and remain in routine attendance. If your child is unable to attend school for any reason including illness, transferring from interstate or overseas, extended family vacation, etc. it is essential for parents, guardians or caregivers to notify the school as soon as practical regarding the absence.
At the commencement of each school year, resources are allocated to schools—including teachers, teacher-aides and school based public servants—based upon the number of students enrolled and verified against attendance records at the school. It is important that the school has knowledge of your child's absences to confirm continued enrolment and attendance for resourcing purposes.
Parents are asked to notify the school so that we are aware of their children's absence.
This should be done by telephoning the school office or sending an SMS to the school mobile phone.
The phone number to SMS is: 0477 724 566
This procedure is sought in the interests and safety of your child. Unexplained absences are reported to EQ through One School and the Enforcement of Compulsory Schooling and Compulsory Participation policy procedures will be exercised. This can include reporting to the police or Child Safety for investigation.
Attendance will be monitored and if no contact is received from a parent on the day of absence, a staff member will call home. If a child's attendance is below 90% in one term, the attendance support process will be followed.
Our whole school attendance target is 94% and we celebrate student attendance each week on Parade. Students who have reached the attendance target each week are put into an attendance draw to win a prize and the class with the highest attendance for the week receives the class attendance trophy.
